Full Moon
“Just great”, he grumbled as he saw the fire
dousing out due to the falling water. He stood up and stared at the few stars that were visible.
As he suddenly heard a deafening roar, he immediately focused on the
direction where it was coming from. He hoped it wasn’t what he
feared it was. “I better check on it”, he thought to himself
as he flew up in the sky. As he reached the place where the roar had come from,
he saw nothing. He landed on the rocks and looked around, nothing…
As the Namek turned around, he stood in front of a large, terrifying
ape. This was what he had feared for, he hated full moons. The large
monster hit him with it’s hand which made Piccolo crash into
a rock wall. But the green one quickly recovered and flew up in the
air to take his fighting position. He didn’t want to fight this
creature because he knew it wasn’t Gohan’s fault he changed
into this thing every time it was a full moon. The heavy rain soaked
Piccolo’s coat and the Namek cursed heaven and hell for this
weather that made his fight even more unpleasant. “Gohan”, he called out to the monster, “I
know it’s you in there. Get a hold of yourself!” The large ape let out another roar and attacked the
green man. Piccolo knew that direct attacks wouldn’t work against
this creature, he hade to get to it by surprise and probably by his
tail since that was his weak spot. He tried to avoid the attacks,
but he couldn’t avoid them all. After a few hits, Piccolo hid himself behind a large
boulder. Normally, he would have fought the creature no matter what,
but now he felt somewhat different about it. Gohan had been under
his training since Goku had died in the fight with Raditz. He had
started caring about the boy, more than he had thought he would. Now,
he didn’t dare to take the risk of killing, or even wounding,
this monster, he was afraid that he would hurt his young pupil too.
He snorted at the thought. He, Piccolo the Namek, afraid… But
still, it was the truth although he didn’t like to admit it.
The Namek felt his energy level dropping and he knew he had to make
an end to it now. He flew up and swiftly got behind the ape’s
back without it seeing him. The only thing he could do was using all
his power to hit that tail. He concentrated for a few moments, gathering
enough energy and then fired a beam at the creature’s tail. The
ape loudly yelped in pain, turning around immediately, hitting Piccolo
to send him crashing into the rocks again. The Namek couldn’t
get up at once, his energy level had dropped too much, he laid there,
heavily panting and with sweat drops running all over his face and
body. The monster was loosing balance, falling down, not getting up
either. “I have to get up”, Piccolo thought to himself,
“I have to check on Gohan” The green warrior slowly stood up, seeking support against
the large stones. He started stumbling towards the spot where the
monster had fallen down. As he reached it, Gohan had gotten back to
his normal self again. The kid was unconscious, but had no serious
injuries, only a few bruises. Piccolo smiled a little, he was relieved
that the kid was alright. He kneeled and took his young pupil into
his arms. Gohan squirmed a bit. “I’m sorry, Gohan”, Piccolo softly said. The black haired boy slowly opened his eyes. “I messed up again, didn’t I?”, he meekly
asked. “It’s not your fault, I’m glad you’re
okay.” The boy smiled and hugged his green mentor. “I’m glad that you’re here now”,
he whispered. “So am I, Gohan, so am I…” |
