A WARRIOR RETURNS By Debs- dragon September 2001 After his long journey through space and then the revelations
from Trunks about the future, Goku felt extremely weary. His friends
still surrounded him, and while he appreciated their concern &
friendship he longed to go home, to see Chi chi, to be alone with
his family. At last they all tendered their good-byes and Goku &
Gohan stood alone in the desert. "Well son, lets go home." Said Goku. "Sure thing dad." Laughed Gohan. "Boy is mom going to be surprised to see you." Goku smiled at his son and placed his hand on his shoulder. Then putting two fingers to his forehead he instant transmissioned them both to their home. They appeared in the garden. Gohan ran ahead to the house calling his mother. Goku stood still inhaling the scent of the meadow, the grass, the trees, the flowers. It was a smell he could savor time & time again. A movement caught his eye. He turned his head. Chi chi stood in the doorway. He swallowed, she looked so lovely. Boy how he had missed her. "Goku." She said softly. Her eyes shone with tears, "Chi chi", he formed the words lovingly. She came towards him laughing & crying. She jumped into his outstretched arms, he caught her and swung her around. He brought his lips down to hers and kissed her long & hard. He crushed her body to his. She clung to him, kissing him back. Gohan stood in the doorway watching his mom. He hadn't
seen her this happy since he got straight 'A's on his report card. At last they parted. Chi chi gazed lovingly at the man before her. "Oh Goku." she said. "Welcome home" She slid her arms around his waist & hugged him. He scooped her up in his arms & carried her to the house. "Something smells good." he said. Chi chi laughed,"Same old Goku." she teased. "Always thinking of your stomach." Goku scratched the back of his head, "Well it was a long trip." he said. "Dinner will be ready in a minute so why don't you go & freshen up?" she said. "Right." said Goku "Come on Gohan." Father & son went upstairs to the bathroom to wash up.Chi chi hummed to herself as she put the dinner out. Goku sat back, "Mmmmm." he murmured. "That was great Chi Chi. I sure did miss your cooking." Chi chi smiled. She was used to him by now and a compliment like that meant a lot as Goku wasn't one for expressing his feelings, He just didn't know how to. Gohan helped his mother do the dishes while Goku took a shower. He reappeared, hair still damp wearing his more familiar Gi. They went through to the lounge room. Gohan sat on his father's knee. "So dad what happened to you after Namek blew up?" "I told you Gohan, I managed to get into a Saiya-jin space pod and ended up on Yardrat." said Goku. "So what were they like, these people?" asked Gohan. "They were really nice Gohan. They fixed my space pod & nursed me back to health. They also taught me the instant transmission technique." replied Goku. Chi chi looked across & smiled. She still couldn't believe that he was actually home and not just a figment of her imagination. "So why didn't you want to come home when we wished you back?" asked Gohan. Chi chi looked up & raised an eyebrow. "Yes Goku, I'd like to know the answer to that one." she said. "Err... well it wasn't that I didn't want to come home Chi, but I had the chance to learn more about this new power level that I had reached." He looked uncomfortable. Chi chi couldn't stay mad at him. She smiled, "It's okay, your home now." she said. Goku let out his breath, "Phew!" he thought. For a minute there he'd expected her to go off the deep end at him. "So, when do we start training dad?" asked Gohan. "There wont be any training for a while Gohan. Your father has just come home from a year away, he needs time to settle back in. Besides I forbid any such thing for at least a couple of days." said Chi chi. Gohan looked at the floor. "Awww Mom..." he said. "Time for bed young man." said Chi chi firmly. "But I want to hear more about dads adventures." whined Gohan. Goku put his hand on Gohans head & ruffled his hair. "Your mothers right son, time for bed. We can talk more tomorrow." "Okay. Goodnight then." said Gohan He gave his dad a hug then kissed his mother before going upstairs to bed. Goku stretched out, he looked across at Chi chi, she was busy with her needlework. He studied his wife carefully. Her long dark hair, the way her brow furrowed while she concentrated on the task at hand. He had missed her so much Even if he often said or did the wrong thing and she hit him or yelled at him for it he still missed her & loved her deeply. Sensing his eyes upon her she turned & looked at him. "What?" she asked. "Nothing." he replied. "Why are you staring at me?" she asked. "I just want to burn you into my memory." With someone always out to kill him he needed to have her etched into his memory to remind him of what he fought for. She smiled, "Not planning on going leaving again are you?" she asked. "No, not for a long time if I can help it." he replied. She put her needlework away and moved next to him. He put his arm around her, she snuggled closer to him. "I missed you so much Chi." he said softly. "I missed you as well." she replied. He kissed the top of her head. "I really did want to come home but I had to master this new power. You do understand that don't you?" he asked. Chi chi looked up at him, "Your home now so lets not think about anything else, okay?" she said. "Okay" he whispered. She reached up & ran her fingers through his hair, she brushed her lips lightly across his. She ran her tongue over his lips and gently pushed into his mouth. She caressed his tongue with hers, he moaned softly. They broke the kiss. "Oh Chi, its been such a long time." Her hands rested upon his shoulders, he put his arms around her and pulled her close.
