Till Time Do Us Part

Part 2

Chi-chi picked up the last of the library books and somehow managed to balance them all.

‘Can you be back here in three hours?’

‘Sure Chi-chi. You sure you’re going to be ok?’ her father asked with a hint of concern in his voice.

‘Daddy, it was just a couple of dizzy spells. It’s probably just the heat,’ she said as she got out of the car.

‘Ok, well I'll see you sweetie,’

‘Bye, and please don’t forget this time.’

‘I wont, I promise.’

As the car drove off, Chi-chi felt slightly guilty for lying to her father, but she knew that he would worry himself to death if she’d told him the full truth. Just then as she tried to see over the massive pile of books someone crashed into her, scattering the books all over the ground.

Chi-chi jumped up off the ground.

‘Why don’t you look where…’ she trailed off as it happened again. Images flashed in front of her eyes, and she fell backwards, completely oblivious of the muscular arms that caught her just before she hit the ground a for second time.

Wiping away the last of the tears, Goku jumped out of the Time Capsule and ‘instant transmissioned’ himself to where the rest of the Z warriors were waiting.

‘It’s about time, Kakarot.’ Vegeta took a closer look at Goku. ‘Have you been crying? You have! Hah! Some Saiyan you are.’

As Goku turned his back on Vegeta, Krillin walked up to Goku.

‘Hey, Goku, you ok man?’

‘I'm fine.’ Goku snapped.

‘Whoa, calm down. Don’t bite my head off,’ Krillin muttered.

‘What’s the matter Kakarot? Scared? Don’t worry, I'll defeat this guy without even breaking a sweat. I don’t need your help.’

‘Shut up, Vegeta, I'm not in the mood.’

‘Ah, so you are scared. Look, I already told you, I-‘

Goku turned around and walked towards Vegeta until their noses were almost touching.

‘Shut the hell up, Vegeta, before I shut you up myself.’

‘Are you threatening me, Kakarot?’ Vegeta asked incredulously.

‘Damn right I am.’

‘Uh oh.’ Krillin scrambled to hide some place safe.

Goku couldn’t take the mental agony any more. Turning Super-Saiyan, he launched himself at Vegeta, catching him off guard.

Goku’s fist connected with the side of Vegeta’s face, sending him flying. Vegeta just had time to transform into a Super-Saiyan himself before Goku was right back in front of him.

Pretty soon, all the rest of the Z warriors were busy trying to keep out of the Saiyans’ way - too busy, in fact, to notice another warrior touching down near-by.

It stood surveying the scene for a long time, smirking, watching as the two punched, kicked, blocked and sent energy balls at each other. After a while, however, it grew bored, and, lifting a two fingered hand, pointed one of the long slender fingers at the source of one of the weaker power levels, and fired an intense energy blast.

As Chi-chi returned to consciousness, she found herself staring up into a pair of deep blue eyes, framed by blond hair. Their owner turned out to be a guy… a very good looking guy…

‘Hey, are you ok?’ He also turned out to have a very deep, rich voice that sent shivers up and down Chi-chi’s spine.

‘Yeah, I think so. Um, what just happened?’

‘After I bumped into you, you stood up then you fell down again. You sure you’re ok?’

‘Yeah, I've just been having these dizzy spells. I think it’s the heat.’

‘Well you look kinda pale. Would you like a lift home or something?’

‘No, no, I'll be fine. Thanks anyway.’

Chi-chi pushed herself up off the ground. Her arms trembled, then gave way.

‘Ok, maybe I'm not so fine,’ she muttered.

‘I really think you should get home. Do you need a lift?’

I may as well, Chi-chi thought. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? I can definitely take care of myself.

‘If its not too much trouble…’ she began.

‘No, no, not at all.’

‘Well, thank you, Mr… what did you say your name was again?’

‘Just call me Yama. It’s short for Yamori.’

Yamori helped Chi-chi up and supported her to his car. He opened the door for her and as she got in he asked her if she wanted him to return the books.

‘Um, yes, that would be helpful.’

As Yamori went off to pick up the books and return them, Chi-chi had some time to think about the ‘dizzy spell’.
It was the strongest one yet - none of the others had caused her to pass out - and although she’d seen a lot of images, one stood out the clearest - a man with weird spiky hair and a big grin on his face. She knew shed never seen him before, so why did he seem so familiar?

Trunks watched his father and Goku battling, knowing it was pointless to try to interfere.

Suddenly, a yell, and…

…THUD.

Something hit the ground beside him.

He turned and saw Krillin’s prone form lying sprawled on the rocky earth.

‘Thankyou so much for bringing my little girl home.’

Chi Chi rolled her eyes.

‘No problems, but I’d better hit the road. I gotta pick up my little sister from school. Bye!’

‘Bye, Yamori,’ Chi Chi said.

‘Hey, I already told you, just call me Yama, ok? I hate Yamori.’

‘Ok. See you round?’

‘Sure!’

With that, Yama got back into his car, blew a kiss to Chi Chi, then roared off.

Ox king raised his eyebrows.

‘So, where are you going?’ he asked his daughter, who by now was a rather bright red. ‘And might I add that your face is clashing horribly with that dress.’

‘What? What do you mean, daddy?’

‘I'm not colour-blind, you know.’

‘No, what you said first.’

‘Oh, c’mon. I might just be your old father, but I can see what’s happening. When and where are you two lovebirds going out?’

‘We’re not going anywhere. And we’re certainly not love-birds!’

‘You mean he hasn’t asked you out yet? Aww, don’t worry, I'm sure he will soon enough.’

‘Firstly, he was just helping me out, and secondly, we’ve only just met. As if anything’s going to happen.’

‘Yes, talking about him helping you, why did you tell me that you were feeling fine?’

‘I felt fine, honestly.’

Ox King fixed his daughter with The Look.

‘Please don’t look at me like that. I'm telling the truth. You know I hate lying to you.’

‘But that doesn’t usually stop you, does it?’ he asked as he gave Chi Chi a mock-fierce glare.

Chi Chi rolled her eyes again.

‘I think I’ll go for a rest, ok?’

But up in her room, she found it very difficult to get to sleep, even though her ‘dizzy spells’ always left her extremely weary. When she finally managed to drop-off, her dreams were filled with piercing blue eyes and black spiky hair.

Through the red fog that clouded all rational thoughts, Krillin’s cry of pain and shock somehow registered in Goku’s grief-torn mind.

He turned to see his best friend’s body.

He felt the rage inside him build up to unbearable heights. It was a physical agony, a feeling that he was about to explode, and there was only one way to release it.

He located the source of his rage and unleashed all the anger, grief and hurt that was within him. It escaped him as physical energy, a blast that completely surrounded the monster that had killed so many.

Goku continued forcing as much power into the blast as he could, all that was within him.

He didn’t care if he used up all his life energy, he didn’t care if it killed him, he didn’t give a damn what happened to him, he just wanted to be rid of this heart-rending emptiness inside.

At last he collapsed, exhausted, to lie on the rocky ground.

~ Is this what it feels like to go insane? ~ he wondered, just before he passed out.
