" Special Delivery " Sept 2002 Debs-dragon
Krillin looked up from where he was currently standing knee deep in water attempting to perfect a new technique. This had been going on for a few months now. He would finally get some time to practice and as soon as he did he would be called back from it. "I'm coming!" he yelled back. Making his way back out onto the sand he passed the older man who was lazing in the sun chair with a magazine across his face. The only sign of life was the gentle flutter of a page as breath was exhaled periodically. "It's all right for some." he muttered as he walked past. "Don't blame me for your predicament." came the muffled response from the chair. Krillin sighed. "I know, I wasn't blaming you I just wish I could get a few moments to practice." A laugh was all he got in reply. KRILLIN! WHERE ARE YOU?" came the voice again. "I'm coming!" and without a glance back he continued into the house. "What is it Juu?" he asked as he took in his wife's heavily pregnant form as she moved about the kitchen. "I need you to go to the store for me. We seem to have run out of chocolate sauce and pickles." "But we can't have! I only stocked up on them two days ago." "Well we don't have any left now." Krillin went to search the pantry shelves. Sure enough not a drop of sauce left in the bottle and the jar of pickles had disappeared completely. "Are you sure you ate them all?" he asked in disbelief. "Yes I did. Look Krillin I'm sorry but I just can't help it. I don't know why but I just have to have those things." said Juu with a pout. Krillin looked once more just to be sure. "All right, I'll go and get some more for you." Juu wrapped her arms around his small frame and hugged him as best she could with the bulge of her belly preventing too much contact. "Thanks Krillin... you're a sweetie." "More like a fool." he thought as he picked up his jacket and headed back out the door to collect the desired items from the store on the mainland. ~ oOo ~ Sitting in front of the television later that evening Krillin pulled Juu closer to him. He had to pinch himself sometimes to believe it wasn't all just a dream. He had fallen in love with the blonde the first time he lay eyes on her and tried desperately to get her to love him. It wasn't until after the Cell games when everything had calmed down that they actually managed to start dating in a sense. Fortunately for him over time and a lot of romantic wooing on his side Juu had given into his charms and finally consented to be his wife. What sort of a future they would have together he didn't know at the time and nor did he care. He had the one that had stolen his heart all that time ago and at last they had taken his body as well to make him complete once more. Being an android Krillin knew could pose some problems for the relationship but Juu had once been human and through no fault of her own was as she appeared now. How much of her human side still remained Juu kept close to her heart and it wasn't until after they had married that she had allowed Krillin to begin to get close to her. The early part of their marriage was spent learning and discovering all about each other. This for Krillin was an experience in itself. He began to understand that while his partner may be robotic in the sense of computer related functioning, she also retained a lot of her own original personality within the memory banks. Fortunately for them both when she had been 'created' whether by accident or on purpose somehow her little traits, nuances and mannerisms had survived and continued to function making Juu the special person that she was. Krillin recalled their wedding night with an amused smile. Having spent a lot of his time with the monks he was somewhat naive when it came to the pleasures of the flesh. He had dated a few girls but had always been the perfect gentleman and so never ventured beyond the odd kiss. The fact that his new bride was also an android posed further problems. Just exactly how much of her human side remained? Was she capable of enjoying that side of the relationship. Hell was she even equipped to enjoy that side! Krillins fears were unfounded. As they shared their honeymoon suite Juu revealed all to him and at last he understood what human part remained and what machine part replaced the rest. Happily they began their life. Krillin didn't think it could get any better than this until...... The day Juu told him she was expecting. "How the heck did that happen?" were his first words uttered. Granted he was in shock but he still should have retained enough of his brain cells to realise it was the wrong thing to say. "Well if you don't know by now then I would love to know what you would call what we have been up to some evenings." replied Juu. She knew he was stunned but still couldn't help teasing him. He was so easy to tease, going bright red and stammering. Overall he looked quite cute when flustered and so Juu would tease him mercilessly from time to time. When the realisation that he was going to become a father had set in Krillin felt as if he was walking on air. His chest puffed out with pride as they announced their impending parenthood to all their friends. The months passed by and as Juu began to swell with the baby's growth so Krillin began to wonder if it was all worth it. Even if his wife was an android she still went through a lot of the emotional crisis her completely human counterparts did. The mood swings, the tears that would appear at anytime, the insecurities and the cravings....... He could handle the tears and mood swings. Holding Juu close and comforting her, ducking as the anger was unleashed. The insecurities consisted of repeating like a mantra all the reasons why she was special to him, but the cravings.... they were the ones that got Krillin in the end. How on earth a woman could eat some of the things his wife did was beyond him. At first it wasn't so bad, the desire for oranges every minute of the day, he could handle that. When it switched to raw vegetables he supplied them as often as requested. But when the crackers with jelly raised its head he wasn't so sure. The final straw had been the demand for french fries with custard. And now it was the pickles and chocolate sauce. Krillin learnt rapidly why it was easier to give into the demands and not oppose his wife's diet. She was after all quite a bit stronger than him. Master Roshi hadn't helped either. While he refused to interfere, he was quite happy to sit and listen when Krillin needed an ear to pour all his troubles and fears into. Often they would stare out at the ocean while Krillin would open up and spill out all he had held within. Roshi would listen and nod in the appropriate places, never taking sides and never expressing an opinion. Krillin was grateful for that. He could unburden his soul and not feel guilty. Juu's hand tightened slightly in his as he was brought back from his mental vacation to the current world. He looked silently at her but could detect nothing wrong and so turned back to the television. The programme they had been watching came to an end and so they retired for the evening. Krillin slid into the warm bed alongside his wife and pressed a good night kiss to her lips. Rolling over so as to give her more room he closed his eyes and waited for morpheus to claim him. The restless tossing awoke him sometime later and he turned over to see why his wife was moving about so much. The moonlight provided enough visibility for him to see her slightly parted lips and light film of sweat that covered her flushed skin. Tentatively he reached out a hand and smoothed his fingers across her cheek. "What is it Juu?" A soft moan escaped her lips as she turned her blue eyes towards him. She shuddered slightly and gasped as another spasm of pain found its way along her neural pathways to lodge in her 'brain'. Realising that all was definitely not well with his wife Krillin fully woke. He leaned up onto his elbow and stared worriedly at her. "What is it Juu?" he repeated. "I ... I think its time." "Huh?..." "The baby.... It's coming Krillin." "Uh... It can't be. It's not due for another two weeks." Juu smiled. "Babies don't stick to schedules you know. They come when they are damm well ready to and this one want's to make it's entry into the world right now." "Oh.. OH!" Krillin managed to get out as his sleep fogged brain registered the fact. Leaping from the bed he began to find his clothes and tug them on. Hopping around the floor as he attempted to pull his shirt over his head while doing the same with his pants only saw him get tangled up in the right leg of his trousers and end up on the floor with a thump. Juu giggled. "I don't see what's so funny, or how you can remain so calm at a time like this." he huffed out as he pulled himself up from the floor. Managing to finally shove his foot down the offending pants leg he yanked them up and fastened them. Turning he watched as Juu manoeuvred herself from the mattress and proceeded to dress herself. Juu managed to get herself ready in between contractions. Once dressed she turned to her husband. "Come on then Krillin." "Uh?... Oh yeah." Krillin opened the door and began to head downstairs. Juu following at a more sedate pace behind him. hearing the commotion Master Roshi woke and peered out of his bedroom door just as Juu walked past. "Errr... whats going on?" he asked. "The baby has decided it's ready to make it's entrance into the world." came Juu's reply. Grabbing his robe, Master Roshi quickly followed Juu and assisted her down the stairs. Reaching the bottom he led the android into the kitchen and sat her down by the table. "Now where the heck has Krillin gone?" Juu smiled and then grimaced as another spasm of pain passed through her body. "I think he went to get the air car." she said. The peace of the night was shattered as the sound of the air car was heard screaming to a halt outside the front door. Moments later a flustered looking Krillin raced inside and looked wildly around. "Ahh there you are. Come on Juu every second counts." "Ummm... Krillin?" "Yes?" "Have you got my bag?" "Shit!" Krillin took off at a run up the stairs and back to their room to collect the suitcase with all Juu's things she would need in the hospital packed safely inside. Master Roshi watched the display with an amused smile on his lips. He had boiled the kettle and now placed a mug of tea in front of Juu as he observed Krillin in full panic mode. The little bald man came flying back down the stairs, taking them two at a time. Unfortunately he missed one half way down and ended up completing the rest of the descent on his rear end coming to rest at the foot of the stairs in a tangle of arms and legs. Picking himself up he shot past the kitchen doorway with case in hand and jumped into the car. Master Roshi watched in disbelief as the car started up and took off. He looked across at Juu who was also staring at the doorway with a wry smile on her lips. Moments later they heard the car return and the door slam. A head appeared around the door jamb with a sheepish look on the face. Master Roshi looked at him. "Forget something Krillin?" "Umm... yeah you could say that." Juu drained the last of the tea from the mug and went out to the car. She wedged herself into the passenger seat as Krillin slid behind the wheel and started the car once more. ~ oOo ~ The nurse was waiting with a wheelchair as Krillin pulled up outside the main entrance to the hospital. Juu climbed out and sank gratefully into the offered transport. The contractions were coming closer together and more severe. Krillin went to park the car and retrieve the suitcase while the nurse wheeled Juu away to the delivery room for the doctor to check on. He puffed his way back inside with one intention on his mind... to find his wife. A rather large nurse barred his way. "Where do you think that you are going?" she asked with a voice of authority. "My wife... Juu... I just brought her in. We're having a baby." Krillin stammered out. "You need to come with me and fill out some forms first." "But.. but..but.." "No buts. Your wife will be fine. The doctor needs to check on her first so while he is doing that you can come and fill out the forms." The nurse spoke with such finality in her voice that Krillin dared not oppose her but followed meekly behind. She handed him some forms and a pen and he sat down to comply, his eyes darting to the double doors every now and then where Juu had disappeared through in the attempt to try to see if his wife was anywhere near by. Finally having filled out all that he could he handed the forms back to the nurse. She glanced over at them and placed them on top of a stack on her desk. She reached for the intercom and conferred with another nurse before returning her attention to Krillin who was nervously hopping from one foot to the other. "You may go and see your wife now." she said. Krillin gave a wide grin and headed for the doors where he was met by another nurse. This one was younger looking and wore a soft smile on her face. She greeted Krillin and led him down the corridor to a small room. "Your wife is in here." she said as she opened the door and motioned for Krillin to enter. Krillin walked into the room and was met by the doctor. "Ahh so here is the expectant father." His bright blue eyes twinkled merrily as he shook Krillin's hand. "Juu is well into her labour but it will be a little while yet before much starts to happen. I suggest you stay with her and just be there to reassure her. The nurses and myself will be in and out continuously to monitor her progress. If you think you need help or anything changes just push the buzzer and we will be there in seconds." "Thanks doc." said Krillin and he ventured forth to where Juu lay on the crisp hospital bed. Her eyes were closed as she panted slightly with the contractions that were passing through her body from time to time. Krillin reached for her hand and held it gently. "How's it all going?" Juu cracked open an eye to stare at him. "How do you think it's going? I'm lying here while some little monster is playing football with my bladder and trying to tie the rest of my insides into knots. Aside from the fact that each time I get a contraction that incidentally is worse than any ki ball Vegeta has ever shot at me I'm just fine and dandy." she growled. "Oh... okay then." said Krillin nervously. "Would you like a drink?" "No thank you." Juu's eyes slid shut and her body began to tremble as another contraction made its presence known. Her hand began to tighten around Krillins with surprising force. "Ow... ow...ow...ow.... Juu... ow..ow..Juu ... let go.... ow... ow...ow... Juu you're hurting me." The contraction eased as did Juu's vice like grip. Krillin eased his hand away and looked at the abused limb. It throbbed where Juu had squeezed it and he knew he would have bruises there later. Sighing he settled into the chair next to the bed... It was going to be a long wait. ~ oOo ~ "Aggghhhhh! Ow! Make it stop! Ouch... ouch... ouch...." screamed Krillin as Juu crushed his hand yet again. The nurse burst into the room at the insistent buzzing of the button. Her eyes swept the room and she couldn't help but smile. Juu lay on the bed, her hair damp with sweat, skin flushed from the labour pains as her face worked into another grimace of pain with the onset of yet another contraction. Krillin stood beside her, his face mirroring all of her emotions but with more volume to his vocal assault as his hand began to succumb to the pressure inflicted upon it. "Would you like something to ease the pain a little?" asked the nurse. "Ohhh... yes please. I thought you would never ask." "I was talking to your wife." "Oh." Juu looked at the nurse through a haze of pain and nodded. "Yes." she hissed. "Gimme drugs... I don't care what they are just give me something to make it stop hurting so much." "I'll be right back." the nurse said as she left the room. Juu turned to Krillin and released his crushed hand. Krillin sighed as tried to move his battered fingers. "Please Juu, do you have to squeeze so hard?" Juu reached for his shirt and with lightning speed grabbed his collar. She yanked his face down close to hers and spoke softly but with menace. "You think thats painful...... You want to try what I'm going through here." Krillin swallowed nervously. Juu continued, "If you_ever_do_anything_ like_this_to_me_again_you_can_have_the_kid." each word was punctuated. "Pain Krillin?" she snorted, "You have no idea of pain." Krillin's collar tightened in Juu's grasp as another contraction hit her. Krillin found himself with his oxygen supply being cut. "Juu... Juu... can't ... breathe.." he choked out. The pain eased as did her grip and Krillin greedily sucked in air. With his lungs working again he looked once more at his wife. "I didn't think you would be able to feel pain like this Juu." "What do you mean?" growled Juu. "Well with you being an android and all... I mean.. he he he... Oh Shit!" Juu's hand shot out once more only this time it curled around Krillins throat. "Take it from me Krillin, just because I'm not all human like I once was does not mean I don't feel pain like you. I feel it and its not pleasant. In fact it's dammed excruciating." her grip tightened as another contraction hit. Fortunately for Krillin just as he was about to pass out the nurse returned to the room with a small container. "Tisk... tisk... I leave you alone for just a minute or two and what do I find?" Juu stared at the nurse. "He deserves it for getting me into this situation." she growled, her eyes glazed with pain. The nurse wasted no time in getting the needle ready and plunging it into Juu's thigh. Swabbing the tiny pin prick she spoke again. "There now, the drug should start to kick in shortly, in the meantime I suggest you release your death grip on your husband after all there are much better ways at getting your own back on him." Juu relented and allowed Krillin to escape from her grasp. Feeling himself freed he immediately scooted to the far side of the room and watched his wife warily. Juu stared at the nurse as she felt the first stirrings of the drug in her system. "Really? What way could be worse than killing him?' She cocked an eyebrow as a thought flashed into her mind. An evil grin lit up her features. "Maybe I should get him castrated." she snickered. Krillins hand immediately travelled from rubbing his sore neck to cover his crotch protectively as his eyes widened at the words. The nurse laughed. "No no no my dear. All you need to do is let him change the baby's nappies." she winked. Juu's face lit up at that thought and Krillins went into even deeper depression. ~ oOo ~ "Thats it now push!" said the doctor in his calm voice. "I am pushing!" retorted Juu. "Maybe you need to push harder." suggested Krillin. A smack to the face sent him flying across the room. "Maybe not." he muttered as he picked himself up and cautiously walked back to the bed. "Nearly there Juu." said the doctor. "A couple more pushes should do it." "Come on baby... It's nearly all over." soothed Krillin. Juu glared at him. Krillin swallowed. "You're doing great honey... just another couple of pushes and it will all..." *Smack* Another hit to the face saw Krillin return yet again to the far side of the room. "Okay Juu, Stop pushing for a moment." said the doctor. Juu bit her lip as she fought the urge to shove this thing out of her. She stared hard at Krillin. "This is all your fault." she hissed through clenched teeth. "Hey, it wasn't just me here that created this..." *Smack* Krillin decided that maybe this side of the room was more appealing and opted to stay there. "Right Juu, one more really hard push should do it." said the doctor. Juu closed her eyes and clenched her fists as she put everything she had into the last push. She was determined once and for all to end this torment now!" Krillin ventured back to the bedside just as the baby made its entrance. With the force of Juu's push and the assisting contraction the slippery bundle shot forth and into the doctors waiting hands pushing them both across the room. Krillins eyes followed in fascination as the doctor ended up in the spot Krillin had only just vacated. "I think you can stop pushing now Juu." he said quietly. The doctor picked himself up mindful of the small bundle he held. A quick look and he turned beaming to the parents. "It's a girl!" he announced. Juu sighed. A girl. She was a mother. She had a daughter. She smiled and looked at Krillin. I have a daughter, thought Krillin. His face lit up with a silly grin. He reached for Juu's lips and kissed her soundly. "We have a daughter." he said with tears in his eyes. The doctor walked back towards them and placed the tiny bundle on Juu's deflated stomach for her to see. The baby's mouth opened in a yawn as tiny eyes fluttered open. Juu felt her heart swell with love and pride as she stared down at the small miracle. The nurse came and took the baby to weigh her and clean her up a bit while the other nurse assisted the doctor in finishing up with Juu and making her comfortable. Krillin watched as his daughter was quickly washed, measured and weighed before being wrapped up in a pink blanket. The nurse brought her over to them and placed the bundle in Juu's arms. The nurses and doctor left the room to give the new parents some privacy. Juu pulled the blanket back from the little face and studied the form. Krillin counted fingers and toes making sure she had the correct number of everything she was supposed to have. "Isn't she just beautiful?" said Juu softly. "Yeah. She has your hair." replied Krillin. "Well its hardly likely she would have yours." quipped Juu. Krillin smiled and then reached forward to touch the soft pink face. "Here why don't you hold her?" said Juu. "Umm.. errr... I don't know. What if I drop her or something?" "You wont silly." and Juu passed the baby to Krillins open arms. "Here sweetie... meet your father." Krillin took the offered bundle and cradled her gently in his arms. He reached again to brush his finger over that soft cheek when the baby worked her arm free of the confining blanket and wrapped her hand around his little finger. He grinned. "Hey there little one... I'm your dad." Juu watched through tired eyes as Krillin nursed their daughter. For a man who could help defend the planet and kill when he had to he was nothing but a big softie when it came to the babe in his arms. She watched the tender exchange between Father and Daughter, the love for them both welling inside her. "Would she do it all again?" she thought. "Not bloody likely!" ~ Fin ~ |
