I Need No One Else But You
Chapter 5— Trunks Gets Framed Gohan’s face had changed color from a beet red to a bloodshot red. “What did you just say to me?” Trunks took another deep breath, calmed down and his normal facial color returned. “Gohan, I said that I love your daughter.“ They were getting loud, so loud that Pan and Videl came running into the room. “Gohan! Have you lost your mind with all this yelling? What is going on?” “I’ll tell you what! Trunks just said that he loves Pan!” Pan looked at Trunks with a glint in her eyes. He was yelling so loudly that Goku came running into the room. “Gohan, what is wrong with you, son? What is all the yelling for?” “Dad, Trunks just said that he loves Pan!” He turned to Trunks, his glare intensely growing. “I am not going to have this, ever! Pan could never love someone like you—“ “Dad, I do love him!” Pan shouted. Gohan turned to face his daughter. For a split second, his blood had ran cold in his veins, yet it soon boiled. “What??!!!” Pan took a deep breath. Never had she heard her father or even seen him this mad. The last time his face was red was when he got a really bad sunburn in Jamaica. “Dad…Trunks loves me and I love him too.” She walked over to Trunks and took his hand. As soon as she said those words, Gohan’s face froze and his heart stopped. “One day, we are going to get married.” “So what?!” Goku said to Gohan. “They love each other and they are going to get married, what’s the big deal about it? What’s the problem?” “Forget it! I don’t want to hear anymore!!” Gohan walked out of the room and didn’t come back. “I’ll try to talk to him,” Videl said to Pan and put her hand on her shoulder. Pan huffed and walked out of the room. Trunks followed her. Pan walked out to the front door and sat on one of the wet swings in her front yard. The door almost hit Trunks in the face before he caught it. “Pan? Are you alright?” Trunks asked as he sat down in the equally wet swing next to her. Pan was silent and took a deep breath before she spoke to calm herself down. “Look, Trunks, I know about those two girls from earlier on. I don’t care about that. If we love each other, why does that have to be such a problem for my father?” She looked at him. Trunks sighed and looked at her. “People keep bringing that up. I think that is what your father keeps focusing on. I’ve changed, or at least, I’ve tried to change. Maybe we need to give it some time before he can accept our relationship.” Pan sighed as well. “All right.” Trunks and Pan kissed. “Ewww! I’m all wet!” Trunks gave a sly smile. “That’s okay, I like the wet look on you.” Pan laughed at Trunks and gave him a playful push to the shoulder. “You are a bad man.” “I love you, Pan,” Trunks said with a smile as they locked eyes. “I love you, too, Trunks.” They kissed once again and Pan took off to find her father. The thunderstorm had moved away. Pan desperately searched around for her father’s ki. Flying as fast as she could, she found herself a few miles from her home. Her pants dried in a matter of seconds. She felt his ki growing stronger the closer she got to it. Then, off in the distance, she found him, sitting by the stream. She landed a few yards away and walked up behind him. “Dad?” she called. “Please…can we talk?” Gohan turned around. He gestured for her to sit next to him. She stepped gingerly and then moved to sit. “Dad,” Pan began as she sat down on the dry ground. “No, Pan, I should start this one,” Gohan objected as he held up his hands and turned to look her dead in the eyes. Pan silenced herself and let her father talk. He took one of her hands in his. “Pan, I’m so sorry for the way I acted towards Trunks. I know it hurt you as well, seeing as how he may become your future husband. I guess the only reason I acted that way was because I really don’t know how to let you go. I know you are twenty-one, and even though you are legally a woman, in my eyes, you are that little girl that used to hang onto my leg. “I guess another reason for my actions is that I’m very protective of you and seeing another man enter your life and take care of you the way I used to do made me a little jealous. Also, seeing how it’s no secret about Trunks’ past, that deeply scared me because I thought he may do the same thing to you. But I know he’s changed; I just worry about you, because you are my daughter. Pan, once again, I am truly sorry and no matter what happens, you and Trunks have my blessing. I love you, honey.” A huge smile spread across her face. “Oh, Dad!” Pan exclaimed as she threw her arms around his neck. “I love you, too!” She looked at him in his eyes. “Dad, I know how much I mean to you and you mean the world to me and I love you, but, I love Trunks too. I’m glad you see that.” Pan kissed her father on the cheek and the two Saiyans flew home. A few hours later and with all the dignity he could conjure up, Gohan apologized to Trunks. “You and Pan have my blessing…You will propose to her sometime before I’m dead, won’t you?” Trunks smiled. “Yes, Gohan, I will.” Pan jumped up and kissed Trunks and her father. “I’ve got two of the greatest men in the world.” ***Wednesday afternoon*** Trunks’ secretary had been eyeing him all morning. “All right, well, thank you, Mr. Briefs,” Gina said, with a folder in her hand. She moved toward the door, but she closed it. He looked up from his papers. “Gina?” She put the file on the table, bent over on his desk and stared at him. Trunks tried very hard to focus his attention on her words and not her swelling chest that was dead in front of his face. I know she purposely wore this shirt just for that , he thought. She has lost her mind. “You know, Mr. Briefs…we’ve been working together here for some time and I know that you’ve felt something…between the two of us.” She sauntered her way over to the other side of his desk and traced circles on his suit. “Gina,” Trunks began. “I have a future fiancée. I’m committed to her and I love her dearly.” He fiercely pushed her away from him. It was as if his words had no effect on her. “Oh, come off it, Trunks,” Gina said. “How many times did we make passionate love before you even cared about her?” “We were young and immature then,” Trunks said as he took his glasses off. “I guess you still are. I’ve always cared and had a love for Pan. I didn’t love you then, I still don’t love you now, and I never will love you, Gina.” “Then I’ll make you love me!” she said as she forced herself on him in the chair and gave him a fierce kiss. The door opened as Pan entered the room, files in hand. Trunks pushed Gina away as she fell back onto the floor. “Excuse me,” Pan said, the expression of shock turning to anger and rage. Trunks turned, saw Pan and froze. “No, let me explain,” Gina said as she got up from the floor. “Let you explain,” Pan said, slamming the door behind her so hard the frosted glass in his door shattered and fell onto the carpet. It didn’t phase Pan to the point that she didn’t even blink. Trunks melted when he saw the glass fall. To him, it fell in slow motion. “I am so sorry, Pan,” she said. “I should say so,” Trunks and Pan replied at the same time. “Trunks didn’t even mention he had a girlfriend.” Pan turned and looked at Trunks. Trunks looked at Gina as if she had said the sky was falling. He couldn’t believe his ears. “What??!! Pan, that is not—” “If he had said so, I would never have let him kiss me. I am so sorry.” Trunks froze again. Gina ‘apologized’ as she stepped out of the doorframe. Pan eyes were like fire. She became so upset that she turned Super Saiyan. He melted once more. “Pan, calm down and let me explain,” Trunks said. Not wanting to reveal herself, Pan did return to the normal level. To Trunks, there were no words that could have came close to describe the look on her face that turned from pain to rage. She slammed the files she had in her hand onto his desk. “I don’t want to hear it, Trunks! I thought you loved me! I thought you changed!” “Pan, baby, please, just let me explain what happened.” For five minutes, Trunks tried to explain himself to Pan. She said nothing. Pan didn’t hear a word he said. Soon after he was done, Pan silently took the promise ring from her finger and placed it in Trunks’ hand. She placed the files on his chair. With one more heartbroken look to him, she turned and walked away. “Pan, please, don’t do this,” Trunks pleaded. She stopped when she reached the door. “I’ll be back on Friday,” Pan said, her voice cracking, without turning to look at him. She stepped out of the frame and walked away. Pan walked by Gina’s cubicle without saying a word. Back in her office, Pan locked the door, turned out all the lights, and sobbed in her couch. After a few moments, Pan picked up her briefcase, left the Capsule Corporation and took to the sky. Trunks slumped in his chair. He still held the ring in his hand and looked at it. He thought about the finger of the person it used to rest on. Trunks held his head in his hands and a tear escaped his eye. Darn Gina! “Postpone everything: I’m taking the rest of the day off.” he said on his intercom. “Yes, sir,” came the reply. After locking up his office, he flew to the Corp. Dome. Even the whistling wind that blew in his face couldn’t even dry his tears. He threw his things on the bench in the living room. “Bulla, are you home?” Trunks called, voice cracking. He searched around for her ki. “Yeah!” came the muffled reply. “Why? What’s the matter?” He put his hand over his face. More tears made salty tracks down his cheeks. “I need your help! I’m desperate!” His masculine voice cracking even more. His heart broke with every tear he cried. Nothing would break him to this point. The only thing that would was Pan. Bulla ran downstairs. At the sight of her brother, she knew something was wrong and immediately ushered him into the den. “What happened to you today? What’s wrong?” she asked. Trunks tried to say what occurred, but he heaved breaths as he tried to talk. Bulla handed him some tissues. After a few minutes, he tried again to speak. “Okay…do you remember…do you remember…Gina?” Bulla thought for a minute as she sat down on the couch next to her brother. “You mean that girl who you slept with a long time ago? The one who is your secretary?” He tried again. “Yeah…she…she…jumped on my lap in my chair and kissed me after I told her off…Pan came in and she saw us…and…you can guess the rest.” Bulla was silent as she gathered her words together. Her blood began to boil. “Trunks, some way, we are going to get her.” Trunks looked up at his sister. “That’s why I asked you for help. Here’s what I need you to do…” Bulla smiled evilly. “Trunks, I will get her for you. No matter what it takes. I know you wouldn’t do anything to hurt Pan.” Trunks looked up. “Bulla, I love her too much. I think I did hurt her for not pushing Gina off of me. I was going to, but if I had, my Saiyan side would have kicked in and I would have broken something.” ~~~O~O~~~ Soon after, Gohan got word of what happened. As fast as he could, he flew to the Corp. Dome. Bulma let him in and Gohan raced to find Trunks. He was sitting in the living room with his hands folded. Gohan took a deep breath. “Trunks, before I say anything else, you had better have a damn good explanation of what happened before I seriously hurt you to the point where you won’t even feel it until after you wake up.” Trunks turned to face him. “Gohan, please, sit down.” Not moving, Gohan’s facial expression hardened even more. “I’ll stand.” Trunks hit play on the VCR. Gohan silently watched a tape until it was over. “Come here, Trunks.” Slowly, he walked toward Gohan. Gohan gave him a gentle hug. “I’m sorry again for my behavior. I have always known that you loved my daughter, even when I tried to ignore it. I don’t know how, but you’ve got to explain yourself or show this to her.” Trunks turned around and rubbed his forehead. He released a heavy sigh into the air. “Gohan, I’ve tried to explain myself to her. Pan is really upset with me and won’t talk to me.” His eyes fell to the floor. The way he felt on the inside, he couldn’t even explain. Gohan and Trunks thought for a moment. “We’ve got to think of how we can get her to see this tape,” Gohan said. The two half-Saiyans thought for another moment. Trunks eyes widened and he snapped his fingers as the light bulb turned on. “I’ve got just the person, Gohan.” ~~~O~O~~~ After Friday had passed, Pan still hadn’t returned to the Corporation. Even though she was home, all she could think about was Trunks. She knew she loved him. Pan sat in her living room, in her bathrobe and pajamas, no makeup, and hair in a messy ponytail. She didn’t talk to him when he tried to explain himself a few times. The hurt she experienced wouldn’t let her talk to him. He called her, left messages, but she just couldn’t speak to him. In the middle of the show she was watching, someone softly knocked on her door. After a few minutes, the person wouldn’t go away. “Pan, please open up!” Bulla pleaded on the other side. “This is really important! I know you’re in there, too! I can feel your ki!” Reluctantly, Pan got up to answer the door. Bulla stood there and invited herself in. “Come on in,” Pan said as she closed the door. She walked back to her armchair and slumped back down in her chair. Bulla popped an unmarked tape into the VCR. “Pan, I’ve got a great movie for you to see. I’ll pop some popcorn.” She got up and went into the kitchen with two bags in her hand. Pan sighed heavily. Watching a movie is really important? Really, Bulla, she thought to herself. Knowing her friend’s behavior, she knew that Bulla wouldn’t leave until they watched the movie. A few minutes later, Bulla came back with a big bowl of popcorn. “Come on already, start it up!” Pan pushed the play button on the remote. The tape revealed the truth of what happened in Trunks’ office up until Pan walked into the door. Pan’s eyes widened at what she saw. She turned around to face her friend. “Bulla, how did you get this?” Bulla smiled widely and threw some popcorn in her mouth. “I have access to the security cameras at the Corp. No one knew I had a job because I’m undercover. When Trunks came home that day, he told me what happened in his office. I knew my brother wouldn’t hurt you intentionally. He really loves you, Pan.” She got up from her chair and gave Bulla a great big hug. “You are the greatest friend in the world a girl could ever have.” A few moments later, Pan returned from her bedroom. She had on a pair of jeans, tennis shoes, a T-shirt, motorcycle gloves and a baseball cap and walked out of her apartment. "Stay here till I get back,” she said as she closed the door behind her. Bulla smiled again. “I love my job. Go get ‘em Pan!” ***Back at the Corporation*** “For the love of God, Gina! Go away and leave me alone! Haven’t you done enough?!” Trunks exclaimed. “You didn’t love her,” she said as she sauntered again to the front of his desk. You wanted me the whole time!” Trunks walked around to the front of the desk. Fire raged in his eyes. By the way he was feeling, he knew that if he hit her, it would have cost Gina her life, since she had cost him his love. “For the last time, Gina! I love Pan, not you! I am in love with Pan. Now get out of my way, you slutty blonde waste of skin!” “Oh, come on Trunks! Don’t you want me?” she asked as she tried to force herself on him again. “No, heifer, I want you!” Pan said, standing in the doorway of Trunks’ office, with a hand on her hip. Gina turned around with a shocked look on her face. As quick as a wink, her blood ran cold in her veins and she froze. “Pan!” was all she was able to muster. “That’s right, it’s ‘Pan’!”hewed on her bottom lip in fear. “You know…I know that you knew who I was a long time ago. When I came in here last Friday, I really thought something was going on in here between you two. There was one mistake you made. Through certain methods I was shown the truth of what really happened. You called me by my name before Trunks even mentioned it. So one, that makes you a liar.” Pan began to take off her baseball cap and earrings. “And if there is another thing I hate, it’s when you’re a liar who’s trying to steal my man!” With her Saiyan speed, Pan punched Gina in the face so hard and fast she didn’t know what hit her. The sound of a bone breaking filled the room. Immediately, Gina’s face turned red and her hand rose to her red cheek. Her eyes filled with tears she tried to swing at Pan, which she easily avoided. This crazy heifer , Pan thought to herself. She must’ve fell and bumped her head. Pan gave her a sharp enough punch to her stomach. She’s lucky I haven’t killed her yet. Crying and heaving gulps of air, Gina scrambled toward the door. “You skinny b—” Pan punched her again, this time in the face again, before the woman could call her outside her name. Another bone in her face broke. Her right eye had turned black and blue. “Leave my man alone, or you are going to get the same thing again! You’re lucky I went easy on you!” Still crying, she left the room holding her face. Pan slammed the door behind her. The glass didn’t break this time. She sighed and gingerly walked over to Trunks. She had her hands folded. She looked him in the eyes. “Trunks, I—“ Trunks cut her off with a kiss to the lips. They broke the kiss. He looked at her with those sapphire eyes. Every time she looked into those eyes, she felt like she was going to melt, but she knew that he was the right man for her. He had everything she wanted in a man. It’s always those eyes! “I know, Pan, you don’t have to say it.” “Still, Trunks, I’m so sorry I didn’t believe you. Can you forgive me?” “I don’t know, Pan. I really have to think about this—Yes!!” Trunks said with a smile on his face. “I love you, Son Pan.” “I love you too, Trunks Briefs,” Pan said with her own smile. Arms around his neck and around her waist, the two shared another loving kiss. “There’s something I want to ask you, Pan,” he said. She motioned for him to continue. “Do you want the ring back?” “Of course I do,” she replied. “My finger felt naked without it.” Trunks took it out of his pocket and slipped it back on her finger. “I’m taking the rest of the day off,” he said over the intercom. Smiling, Trunks and Pan shared another deep kiss and they walked out of his office together. As they walked by Gina, she backed towards the wall. Trunks whispered something to Pan. Stopping in the hallway with his hands in his pockets, Trunks turned around to look at Gina and Pan. She backed into the wall and slid to the floor. “Trunks wanted me to tell you something, Gina…You’re fired ! Have a nice day!” Laughing together, they walked out of the building and then took to the sky. With Pan in his firm grip, they flew back to Pan’s apartment. She threw her arms around his neck and relaxed into his hold. Now that he had her back, Trunks knew he wasn’t going to let her go anymore. Pan opened the door to her apartment. Bulla sat in her living room, eating Pan’s chocolate covered pretzels and watching TV. “Sorry, Pan, I’ll replace them.” “It’s okay, Bulla. I’m just happy everything’s back to normal.” Trunks and Pan kissed in front of Bulla. “Get a room!” she exclaimed. |
